Now that it’s summertime, you may have noticed that the second floor of your house has been getting unusually hot, even when the AC is running full-blast. While this is a problem that most homes deal with to some degree, it is something that can be fixed. Here, an air conditioning repair specialist explains what causes this and shares a few tips on how you can fix it.
What you have to remember is that hot air rises. If your air conditioning unit is located on the ground floor, it has to push the hot air out as cold air enters a room. This also means that your air conditioning unit has to work harder to cool down the second floor.
According to HVAC installation contractors , your roof also plays a huge role in this, especially during the summer. Unless your roof is protected from the sun or has a special coating that deflects the sun’s heat, the level that’s closest to the roof will be noticeably warmer.
The good news is that this problem can easily be fixed without much effort. Proper attic insulation will lessen the amount of heat that radiates from your roof. You can also close some (but not all) of the vents on the ground floor for better air circulation on the second floor. Lastly, make sure that none of the air vents located on the second floor are blocked by furniture or other obstructions.
